Lashkar-e-Jhangvi Balochistan chief was killed in the wee hours Thursday in an intelligence based operation (IBO) led by Colonel Sohail Abid, who was martyred in the process, said an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement.
The IBO was conducted by security officials on intelligence provided by a high value target (HVT), previously apprehended, who revealed presence of at least two suicide bombers and other terrorists at a hideout in Killi Almas, added the press release.
“Two suicide bombers killed were Afghani,” ISPR stated. “[The] group was involved in target killings of innocent Hazara community and police.”
The LeJ provincial chapter chief Salman Badeni, killed during exchange of fire, is reportedly involved in killings of over 100 people including Hazara community members and police officials.
During exchange of fire, the Military Intelligence officer embraced martyrdom while another four soldiers were injured. Two of whom are in critical condition. The security forces arrested one militant.
The operation was conducted as part of the ongoing targeted military operation; Radd-ul-Fasaad.
Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi expressed on Thursday deep grief over the martyrdom of Colonel Abid, said a press release from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The PM prayed for blessing of the departed soul and early recovery of the injured. “Our soldiers have paid the price of freedom with blood and their is no higher sacrifice than it. We as a nation are united than ever against the coward enemy.”
